Overview of workshop

The workshop was hold by Office of National Science and Technology Policy Council (S&T) (Council of National Science and Technology Policy), Department of Application and Technology Development (MOST) and Vinh Long Department of Science and Technology.

At the workshop, the presenters shared and exchanged some problems, such as current status and application needs for science and technology in agricultural development in Mekong delta; experiences of Australia in enterprise support policies apply science and technology in rural agriculture; propose policy mechanisms to apply in agriculture, rural areas; mechanism and policies cooperate enterprises to apply science and technology for agricultural development in  Mekong Delta; business support policies apply science and technology in agriculture in Vinh Long; etc.

Most presenters agreed that it is necessary to get specific policies to encourage enterprises in order to apply scientific and technological progress in agriculture. At the same time, businesses need to have an enthusiasm and full participation force. Local government should be strong and fully aware of the application of scientific and technological advances in agriculture. Concurrently, farmers also need to improve their knowledge in order to become progressive farmers. Thus, they are capable of receiving the new advances in science and technology.

The workshop is an opportunity for experts, researchers, managers, businesses to come up with ideas, solutions in order to improve the mechanisms and policies for encouraging the application of science and technology in production and agriculture transfer effectively.
