Development of organic agriculture must stick with quality standards
The development of organic agriculture, if not linked to organic production standards, actually leads to difficulty in quality control and negatively affects the reputation of the product.

Vietnam is a country coming from agriculture, has advantages in natural and social conditions, so there is a lot of potential for developing organic agriculture. The Government has always strongly supported efforts to develop organic agriculture as part of sustainable, environmentally friendly agriculture, and improve the productivity and competitiveness of Vietnamese agricultural products in the market.

The domestic organic agricultural product market has only been formed in the past 10 years and is on the rise. The increasing demand for a segment of high-income consumers who are concerned about health in big cities for agricultural products and safe food has initially created a foothold for some organic products, such as rice, vegetables, fruits. Some certified organic agricultural products of Vietnam are present in over 100 different countries.

According to Professor Nguyen Hong Son, Director of the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the statistics on the size of the food market in Vietnam vary widely around 200 million USD, but the assessments all say that the potential of the domestic market for organic product is very large. The rapidly increasing income of Vietnamese people and concerns about their own and their family's health have boosted the demand for safe and natural food.

Along with that, the world organic product consumption market has also grown steadily with an estimated market size of more than 80 billion USD / year. Consumers in developed countries, such as the US, Japan, and the EU are now very fond of organic products not only because of their superiority in health protection but also by contributing to the protection of the ecological environment and minimization of Climate Change. However, the output of organic agricultural products in Vietnam still accounts for a very small proportion of the total agricultural output and the value of agricultural exports.
