ARM-1 Exoskeleton Takes the Strain Off Manual Workers
Fruit-pickers and other manual workers may soon have some of their burden lifted by the ARM-1 exoskeleton, a device designed to relieve workers who have to hold their arms over their shoulders for an extended period of time.

Created by the Kubota Corporation, known for its agricultural machinery, the ARM-1 is equipped with a set of adjustable arm rests stabilized by the exoskeleton. The unit is anchored on the hips and shoulders, where it supports the user’s arms just a few inches below their working position. This allows the users, such as grape-pickers, to work with their hands above their shoulders for many hours without needing to constantly support their full weight.

The ARM-1 is already completed, and expected to sell in the $1100 range.
