Students made IoT-integrated automatic hand washing and temperature monitors
A group of first-year students of the Soft Skills class, International Training Program, Ho Chi Minh City Polytechnic University, has just successfully made an IoT-integrated automatic body temperature meter and hand washing machine, to serve the prevention and treatment of health problems fight against Covid-19.

Chu Minh Nhan, a member of the group, said that, initially, the group assigned to make automatic hand washing machines. However, because they saw that there must be more staffs to measure temperature and remind those who have not strictly followed the epidemic prevention regulations, the group had the idea of adding the function of measuring temperature and reminding to wear a mask. After presenting the idea, the team was guided by three lecturers from the faculties of Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical and Environmental Engineering, and Resources to perfect and develop the product.

The machine consists of parts, such as a mist nozzle that automatically sprays a sufficient amount of disinfectant solution for the user and a camera with the function of checking student IDs combined with mask identification using artificial neural network technology. The machine will give voice prompts to those identified who are not wearing a mask.

In addition, the device also has a body temperature sensor that moves automatically according to the height of the person. The device will issue an alert if the recorded body temperature is higher than normal. The LED screen on the machine will display user information (face, student ID, ...), measured temperature, time to use the machine,... Due to the integration of IoT technology, the data is stored and transmitted to a central server, so that medical staff can quickly and conveniently access data when it is necessary to control and trace suspected Covid-19 cases.

The group is currently completing the machine for use in the prevention of Covid - 19 at Ho Chi Minh City Polytechnic University in June.
