Climate Change
The integrated development planning for the Mekong Delta region is the basis for coordinating and allocating resources for development.
On September 27, in Can Tho, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc presided the plenary session of the conference on sustainable development of the Mekong Delta (MD) in response to climate change. This event attracted more than 1,000 domestic and international delegates.
In the afternoon of September 26, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited the Mekong Delta (DC) by helicopter.
After 2 years of study, Institute of Hydrometeorology and Climate Change proposed to integrate climate change response into Socio-economic development planning of some key sectors (agriculture, fisheries and infrastructure) of Thua Thien Hue province. Build flood map with corresponding climate change scenarios. 1: 25,000. At the same time, come up with the vulnerability index map when the impact of climate change is 1: 25.000 for Thua Thien Hue province.
Phu Yen Provincial People's Committee has just deployed the green growth action plan for the period 2016-2020 aiming at low carbon economy, reducing emissions and increasing greenhouse gas absorption capacity, enriching natural capital, using energy conservation and efficiency, natural resources.
Vietnam is one of the most affected countries by climate change. It is therefore important to turn climate change challenges into opportunities for sustainable development and green growth.
In the afternoon of September 5, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a meeting with several ministries and sectors to organize a conference on changing the sustainable development model of Mekong Delta to adapt to climate change.
Ho Chi Minh City was known as the land of "the favorable rain and wind". However, nowadays, according to the climate change scenario, Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong River Delta are most affected by climate change. Ho Chi Minh City is also one of the 10 largest cities in the world is most affected by climate change.
In the morning of September 11, in Ha Noi, Minister Tran Hong Ha and Vice Minister Nguyen Linh Ngoc presided the meeting to implement the conclusion of the Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on the organization of the conference on changing Mekong Delta sustainable development model (Mekong Delta) to adapt to climate change. The conference is expected to take place on September 26-27 in Can Tho City.
In order to provide technical information to policymakers, implementing units involved in greenhouse gas emissions mitigation activities, on August 22, 2017, Department for Climate Change (CC) coordinated with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Vietnam to organize a regional workshop of the development of new mechanisms for low carbon markets.
