Science and technology cooperation between Vietnam and Italy opens up new directions
On the foundation built in the past 20 years, the cooperation relationship in science and technology development between Vietnam and Italy is entering a new stage, researchers of the two countries in a number of fields can exchange free equality and create common knowledge, useful to both sides.


Improve research capacity

Taking place on May 6, the meeting between Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat and Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Antonio Alessandro had many important meanings, especially when it was in the middle of the Italian Research Day in the world (April 16) and Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18). During the meeting, Mr. Antonio Alessandro, Italian Ambassador to Vietnam, presented the Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat with a thematic publication entitled "Innovations in Land, Water and Energy for Vietnam's Sustainable Development" (on land, water and energy for the sustainable development of Vietnam) published by Springer Publishing House. A special feature of this book is not only the participation of 40 Vietnamese authors (out of a total of 92 authors) in the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Hanoi Vietnam National University, Hanoi Polytechnic University, University of Water Resources but also that the book is a new milestone in the journey of science and technology cooperation between Vietnam and Italy over the past 20 years.

Cooperation on science and technology between Vietnam and Italy has opened up a good relationship between research institutes and universities of the two sides. However, that cooperation will not stop, but will continue with more plans and goals, as shared by Mr. Manlio Di Stefano, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, at the Workshop " Vietnam - Italy S&T cooperation: Results and prospects for sustainable development” took place that same afternoon: “We have done a great job, but our priority going forward will be mobilizing private resources and funding from Horizon program 2020”, so that more research will be applied to life.
