Wastewater treatment solutions gain high efficiency
The research team of Institute for Science and Environment Technology – Polytechnic University (Hanoi) studied the impact levels of sludge on performance of household wastewater treatment by Sequencing bioreactor technology (SBR) and found the optimal concentration of sludge to treat wastewater effectively.

The biggest advantage of SBR technology is the flexibility in the treatment process. The anaerobic conditions during loading and mixing waste water will help make the process of reducing nitrate and phosphorus resolution. The aeration stage will perform nitrification and phosphorus absorption processes into biomass. The phosphorus treatment process in an SBR tank depends on the amount of organic matter inputs and nitrate in the sludge, retained from the previous cycle. The nitrification process, reducing nitrate and phosphate processing are closely related to low organic load to the SBR system. If the concentration of organic matter inputs is relatively stable, the organic load will depend largely on the concentration of sludge reactors.

The study shown that, when the mud content increased from 1,000 – 2,000mg / l, COD treatment efficiency and a corresponding TN increased. However, treatment efficiency decreased while sludge levels continue to rise 3,000mg / l, the higher concentration of sludge is beneficial for phosphor treatment bacteria. The ability of mud deposited relatively good, average sludge volume index ranged between 43-72ml / g silt content.
