Hanoi organized training workshop on GHG inventory reporting for more than 100 enterprises
On July 6, the Management Board of Hanoi Industrial Parks and Export Processing Zones and Mecie Vietnam coordinated to organize a training workshop on GHG inventory reporting for more than 100 enterprises.


This is the first time that the Management Board of Hanoi Industrial Parks and Export Processing Zones has organized a workshop to propagate and update the legal provisions related to climate change under the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 as well as guiding enterprises to make reports and inventory of greenhouse gases. The workshop was attended by representatives of leaders of the Climate Change Department, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency in Hanoi (Kotra Hanoi) and over 100 manufacturing enterprises operating in industrial parks and export processing zones of Hanoi.

The workshop aims to propagate regulations on climate change, greenhouse gas inventory and carbon credits for industrial production enterprises in Hanoi city. Hanoi currently has 83 enterprises on the List of Decision No. 01/2022/QD-TTg that must conduct a greenhouse gas inventory, of which 61 are located in industrial parks and industrial clusters of various types: electronics manufacturing, metallurgy, energy, pulp/paper production, textiles, mechanics, auto parts, plastics...

At the United Nations Climate Change Summit 2021 (COP 26) in the United Kingdom, for the first time, Vietnam pledged to develop and implement strong greenhouse gas emission reduction measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions net-zero emissions by 2050, and commit to reducing methane emissions by 30% by 2030. Since 2012, Vietnam has actively prepared for the process of carbon market formation and development in the country, towards integration with the region and the world. On January 7, 2022, the Government issued Decree No. 06/2022/ND-CP on regulating the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions and the protection of the ozone layer.

the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Management Board of Hanoi Industrial Parks and Export Processing Zones said: The city currently has 9 industrial parks and export processing zones with a total of more than 9. 700 businesses. Through the workshop, businesses will understand more about the importance of implementing climate change response activities, the process of implementing a greenhouse gas inventory as required by the Law on Environmental Protection 2020, especially enterprises under the Prime Minister's Decision No. 01/2022/QD-TTg on promulgating the list of sectors and facilities that emit greenhouse gases must carry out a greenhouse gas inventory.
