What should Vietnamese businesses do to protect their brands?
Since the beginning of the year, the market management force (QLTT) has strongly handled many cases of trading and manufacturing fake goods and smuggled goods with forged origin. Therefore, businesses also need to be proactive in protecting their own brands.

Startup has grown rapidly in the recent years. However, more than 80% of startups do not survive the second year because they lack experiences, capital, knowledge... In which, the reason is not knowing how to protect their brand strong enough compared to the competion.

Not only that, the problem of counterfeit goods, which is taking place regularly in all fields, also affects businesses' reputation and loses competitive advantages.

Currently, there are many manufacturing enterprises that have chosen to protect their brands by advertising through media. However, this is not suitable for small and medium enterprises because the investment costs are very large. Therefore, registering for protection of intellectual property rights is the most effective brand protection solution that any business needs to implement.

What businesses need to do is register for protection of intellectual property rights for objects including inventions, trademarks, industrial designs, utility solutions, integrated circuit layout designs and geography indication. The right of protection will be established through consideration and grant of a title to the object owner based on a decision of a competent state agency.

Registration for protection not only helps the brand to be protected by law but also avoids the risks and confusion with other brands in the same field. Moreover, you can carry out brand promotion activities, avoid arising disputes and have exclusive trademark ownership rights in the registered national territory.
