International cooperation on intellectual property 2018 - a year of looking back
2018 marked a new milestone in Vietnam's multilateral foreign intellectual property activities when Vietnam first took over the position of President of the WIPO General Assembly for a two-year term.


This is an important achievement in international integration activities, demonstrating Vietnam's prestige in the world's largest multilateral forum on intellectual property, as a result of the implementation of proactive and positive policies, international integration of the Party and the State.

In order to serve as President of the WIPO General Assembly of Vietnam, the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam has actively participated in meetings, following up the issues discussed by the WIPO Professional Committees, such as the Intellectual Property and Development Committee (CDIP), Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore (IGC), Standing Committee on Patent Law (SCP), Standing Committee on Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications (SCT), PCT Alliance Council, Council of the Madrid Union, Madrid Unoin Working Group, Working Group of the Hague Alliance, etc. Besides, Vietnam also actively suggest other issues to WIPO when it is necessary.

Within the framework of APEC and ASEAN, Vietnam actively and fully participates in the Expert Groups and the Working Group on Intellectual Property, affirming Vietnam's role and position in these organizations, actively preparing launch for the five presidents of ASEAN 2020 of Vietnam.
