Cefaly Headband Stimulates Nerves to Prevent Migraines
The recently FDA approved Cefaly headband from STX-MED could bring new relief to migraine sufferers by stimulating the cranial nerves to block the sensation of pain.

The system is based on the gate control theory of pain, and provides sensory input to the nerves to prevent the neural gate from receiving pain input. The battery-powered, tiara-shaped Cefaly is meant to be worn on the head for 20 minutes every day, where it will stimulate the trigeminal nerve—the nerve that has been associated with headache pain. In tests on volunteers, users of the device reported significantly less migraines than volunteers who used a placebo device.
