Hanoi people are indifferent to the limited use of plastic bags
100% of surveyed Hanoi people asked that they still used plastic bags in daily life, many others were completely unaware of the harmful effects of this type of bag.

Ha Noi Department of Natural Resources and Environment held preliminary conference on 5 years implementation of program "Restrict the use of plastic bags for the environment". Since 2009 -2013, the program has achieved many results and limited the use of plastic bags that is gradual to become a habit of the urban people. At supermarkets or commercial centers, plastic bags have gradually been replaced by the kind of environmentally friendly bags.

However, the survey was still 3% of 5,000 respondents who were completely unaware of the harmful effects of plastic bags, 100% of respondents still used this bag for daily use.

One of the reasons led the above situation, according to Hanoi Department of Natural Resources and Environment was due to limited propaganda fund, so they implemented at groups of objects.

According to environmental experts, the lifetime of plastic bags are long to thousands of year. Disposing of plastic bags takes less than a second, but they decompose naturally requiring 500 to 1,000 years. Plastic bags contain foods that will contaminate because they contain metals such as lead, harmful effects to the brain and cause lung cancer, congenital defects for babies. Treatment of plastic bags by burning methods are not appreciated because plastic bags contain two substances, such as PE and PP, gas that will form carbon dioxide, methane and toxic dioxin gas.
