Climate Change
Farmer, fishermen, salt workers and the urban poor people are most affected by climate change due to lack of nutrition, resources,financial capability, and to difficultly access information to cope up the climate weather. That was the statement of associate professor, Dr. Le Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of Institute for Climate Change - Can Tho University at the Mekong Connect CEO Forum 2016 with the topic "Search chances in risks" in the past.
Da Nang Office of Climate Change said, the city is in the process to complete strategies of resistant, it is expected to announce in late September, 2016.
People's Committee of Ca Mau province proposed to Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for consideration and approval of the project for "Building the embankment to plant coastal mangrove forests for erosion prevention due to climate change." To help farmers cope with climate change situation, Agriculture and Fishery Extension Station of Long My district (Hau Giang) has cooperated with Binh Dien Fertilizer Company to experiment on intelligent rice cultivation models for response to climate change and saltwater intrusion in Vinh Vien commune.
On May 19, Minister Tran Hong Ha had a meeting with the Ambassador Charlotte Laursen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Denmark in Vietnam. Attending the meeting, there were representatives of the International Cooperation Department, General Department of Environment, Department of Hydrometeorology and Climate Change, Ministry Office.
Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee said, based on the submission of the application for funding development investment in East sea dyke construction project to adapt to climate change and rising sea level of Ca Mau province, the Government has agreed investment policies to build East sea with total capital amounted to 1.300 billion VND. The project starts this year and will continue to deploy capital annually until completion.
Recently, Hau Giang Department of Natural Resources and Environment has signed joint minutes with Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and other religions on environmental protection and response to climate change, for the period 2016-2020.
