Sweat glands play an important role in wound healing
Our skin has millions of endocrine sweat glands that can help keeping the body cool during exercise or in hot weather.

Research by experts at the University of Michigan Health System (USA) has also recently discovered the sweat glands play an important role in the delivery of cells to restore skin wounds such as abrasions scratches, burns or sores.
For years, scientists have known that the wound immediately with a huge mouth of new skin cells derived from hair follicles and the skin at the edges of the wound. But new research shows that cells emerging from beneath the wound and eccrine sweat glands also reserve a storage of adult stem cells, which will be mobilized to support wound healing. "By defining the process of closing the mouth wound, we can test the new treatment, which is aimed at the sweat glands" - Laure Rittie, Associate Professor of Dermatology explains the meaning of findings.

"The potential for reproduce of sweat glands has long been one of the most mysterious of our bodies", she added Rittie, affirmed that findings improve our understanding of the processnormal wound healing and expected to open up new directions for new therapies to treat injuries more effectively. This is significant for diabetes patients who are difficult to heal wounds and are at high risk of amputation if wound in the arms and legs become heavy.
