Vietnam’s first wind farm goes on line
A wind farm went into operation on April 18 in the central province of Binh Thuan’s Tuy Phong District, the first of its kind in Vietnam.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the efforts of the province and the Vietnam Renewable Energies Joint Stock Company for caring out the work.

He asked Binh Thuan to complete the second phase of the project as soon as possible and build other wind farms around the province.
The success of the project offers prospects for harnessing more wind energy in Vietnam, which is a green and plentiful. It will play an important role in attracting investment, harnessing and using this source of clean energy, as well as protecting the environment in Binh Thuan Province and across the country.
Wind farm No. 1 was funded by the Vietnam Renewable Energies JSC, with capital of 2 trillion VND. It will eventually have 80 turbines, and 20 turbines of which now in operation can produce 30 MW of electricity.
Binh Thuan has a huge potential for wind energy and the provincial People’s Committee has licensed 13 investors to build 16 additional wind energy mills with combined capacity of 1,240 MW.
