Climate change challenges become opportunities for sustainable development
Vietnam is one of the most affected countries by climate change. It is therefore important to turn climate change challenges into opportunities for sustainable development and green growth.


Award ceremony for innovative entrepreneurs responding to climate change.

On September 20, in Hanoi, Center for Innovative Response to Climate Change and the World Bank organized the award "Creative Startup copes with climate change in Vietnam "for businesses with excellent projects.

The Center is an initiative of the World Bank Group's Climate Change Adaptation Technology development Program. It is supported by the Ukaid (UK Ministry of International Development), Australia Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Trade and is implemented by the Government of Vietnam through the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Speaking at the opening of ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Dai Duong emphasized that Viet Nam is now one of the most affected countries by climate change. Climate change has had a negative and deep impact on political economy and social life. Especially in recent times, the phenomenon of droughts and salt water intrusion in the Mekong Delta is seriously affecting the economy which depends heavily on agricultural production.

Before that situation, Vietnam and international friends find new opportunities and solutions, to apply scientific and technological advances and innovate to contribute to economic and social development.

The 21 start-up projects had been awarded this morning are the best projects in start-up ideas. Some of the key ideas, such as applying connection of everything to hydroponic farming, environmental monitoring, artificial intelligence applications, and reducing road surface air pollution, manufacturing and commercializing wind turbine.

The awards ceremony honored 21 outstanding enterprises, of which 17 enterprises received financial support and related services, and 4 enterprises received non-financial support.

After the award ceremony, from September 21 to September 23, the Center held a training program to enhance knowledge and skills for both groups of businesses focus on business objectives planning, market research, marketing, technology description.
