Integrate climate change response into development planning
After 2 years of study, Institute of Hydrometeorology and Climate Change proposed to integrate climate change response into Socio-economic development planning of some key sectors (agriculture, fisheries and infrastructure) of Thua Thien Hue province. Build flood map with corresponding climate change scenarios. 1: 25,000. At the same time, come up with the vulnerability index map when the impact of climate change is 1: 25.000 for Thua Thien Hue province.

Based on the analysis of international experiences and conditions in Vietnam, the study has developed an appropriate vulnerability assessment method using the imbalance weights. In addition, it has developed a method to integrate climate change into socio-economic development planning through strategic environmental assessment (SEA) with a 6 step process. The results of the vulnerability analysis showed the rationality of using the method provided a scientific basis for integration. This is an effective tool for assessing the success or effectiveness of integration into socio-economic development.

According to the Institute of Hydrometeorology and Climate Change, the socio-economic development and climate change are inevitable processes in the future if not integrating climate change into the socio-economic development planning social development efforts may be impeded or ineffective. The result of the research is the important scientific basis in the research and development of integrating climate change into socio-economic development planning in Vietnam.
