Japan supported nearly 13.5 billion VND to help Thua Thiên – Hue adapt to natural disasters

On July 28, People's Committee of Thua Thien-Hue province took over the project "Building societies adapts to natural disasters (period 2) in Thua Thien-Hue."

The project was funded by Japan government through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the grant amount is 60,456,000 JPY (equivalent to nearly 13.5 billion VND); counterpart fund of participant localities in the project is 800 million VND.
The project was assigned to Thua Thien-Hue Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to implement project from now until July, 2016; focusing on the activities of disaster risk management based on community and disaster education to reduce disaster risk in Thua Thien-Hue; strengthening disaster prevention measures related to water by integration flood management system in the localities.
Vice Chairman of People's Committee of Thua Thien-Hue province, Le Truong Luu said that last time, JICA also supported Thua Thien-Hue project "Improving disaster adaption capacity for the central provinces of Vietnam, "carried out from 2009 to 2012 to form the integrated flood management plan in Thua Thien-Hue, helping regional localities improve capacity of disaster management relied on the community and construct works against erosion in the riverbank with small-scale and low-cost. |
