Fruit price is often down as its harvest crop is coming, including Hoa Loc mango, this effected on gardeners badly. On the other hand, quality of product is also a part that affects to this kind of fruits. The project “The application of technical procedures improves productivity, quality of Hoa Loc mango multiple-cropping production following VietGAP standards in Chau Thanh A, Hau Giang”, was lead by associate professor Dr. Tran Van Hau in Can Tho university, carried out to help farmers raise income in their homeland.
Mr. Dinh Van Lap, Hamlet 2A, Bay Ngan town, Chau Thanh A district, a farmer, has been raising Hoa Loc mango for years, he said: “ mango harvest crop often falls in March, April (lunar calendar) leading to price fall. Meanwhile, on Tet holiday, gardeners have not enough mango to sell, when I knew the project, I didn’t hesitate to take part.”
Raising Hoa Loc mango with an area of 7000 m2, Mr. Lap’s household is going to harvest in the next 10 days. As he said, his garden faced with continuous rain when trees are blossoming, adverse weather, and so productivity is just about 1 ton, in the moment, he can sell for 35.000 VND/kg which offer him total income around 30 million VND. According to Mr. Lap raising mango in inverse seasons will offer gardeners doubled income.
Leader of the project, Dr. Tran Van Hau guided not only cultivation process of multiple cropping mango but also supported new technical cultivation for farmers.
