Launching pilot model of water hyacinth cutting – picking machine at the canals

December 12, Ho Chi Minh city, Department of Science and Technology (DOST) put pilot model of water hyacinth cutting – picking machine into operation at Thu Tac canal (under 12, 26 ward) and Cau Bong – Cau Son canal (2,15 ward), Binh Thanh district.

Water hyacinth, after picking, will be moved to centre of Bio-Tech in ward 12 for making manure.
According to Mr. Hoang Song Ha, Vice Chairman of Binh Thanh People’s Committee, in the early 2013 up to now, authorities has been picking junk, trash at the canals. However, water hyacinth soon appeared again, caused bad effects to environment, and disease.
Mr. Phan Minh Tan, Director of Ho Chi Minh DOST said, water hyacinth can not treat by hand, Ho Chi Minh People’s Committee assigned Ho Chi Minh DOST to associate with Binh Thanh authorities in order to launch above mentioned pilot plan. Based on the obtained results, Authorities will deploy the technology in various districts in Hop Chi Minh city.
In the near future, DOST along with Center for Technological Research and Industrial Machinery Development will reduce size, and add more automatic functions for the machine.
