Everyday, a mature deer could consume up to 5 kg of weed, leaves/day. In harvest time, they are fed with extra starch (rice or corn bran) and leaves (sap trees such as jackfruit or papaya) which give  better quality of velvet antler.

The deer should be kept in dry conditions all the time to protect them away from bloating, flatulence due to eating spoiled foods. Every month, it is necessary to feed deers with 0,5-1 kg oval leaves to eliminate worms.

Mr. Tien raised deers with an area of 100 square meter, it is divided into 9 square (5 m2 per square) with 8 bucks in harvest time, and 1 in pregnancy.

It takes 2 years for a mature fawn, and ready to harvest. Velvet antlers are usually collected  2 times per year (main and sub one). Currently, in market, the price for 1 kg of velvet antlers may cost up to 22 million VND, Mr.Tien gets 100 million VND annually.
