Ho Chi Minh City leaders invited Vietnamese tea, opening the meeting with 100 leaders of corporations.

This is one of the activities within the framework of the Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum (HEF) 2023 with the theme "Green Growth - Journey towards reducing net emissions to zero". Mr. Phan Van Mai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee chaired the meeting.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the City People's Committee Phan Van Mai said that Ho Chi Minh City is a large urban area of over 10 million people, the economic, cultural, educational, science and technology center of Vietnam. The city always strives to build a good living, convenient, safe and effective working environment for people and businesses inside and outside the city. However, Ho Chi Minh City is facing challenges, such as climate change, environmental pollution, traffic congestion, lack of human resources as well as the impact of cyclical economic development.

According to the Chairman of the City People's Committee, to respond to these challenges, Ho Chi Minh City is restructuring its economy, identifying the green economy as the driving force to promote sustainable growth and development in the coming period. The city is very determined to research and propose a strategic green development framework and commit to allocating full resources to implement it, aiming for Net Zero by 2050 (net zero emissions).
