Detecting new tree frog species in Central Highlands, Vietnam
Based on the results of studies comparing morphology and molecular genetics, scientists of Vietnam and Japan discovered, described and published a new tree frog species to science. The study results are published in professional journal of Current Herpetology of Japan.

New tree frog belongs to a little lumpy frog species  - Kurixalus, family of tree frog - Rhacophoridae, scientific name is Kurxalus viridescens Nguyen, Matsui, and Duc, 2014.  The scientific name of the species is based on their external morphology, following Latin it means "little lumpy tree frog with green back."

Standard samples and copper of species were collected at Hon Ba Nature Reserve Zone, Khanh Hoa province and Bi Doup National Park - Nui Ba, Lam Dong province. This is a medium sized species, males are smaller than females; children’s size is  from 28.7-36.6mm, green doldrums, lemon yellow ventral surface, sharp mouth, undeveloped feet membrane.

This new discovery has raised a total of tree frog species in Vietnam recorded 63 species under 11 breeds. At the same time, research has proved Vietnam is a country with high biological diversity in the region and in the world, especially amphibian diversity. Therefore, we should improve and expand in-depth research, as well as accelerating the process of implementing measures to conserve biodiversity.
