Sea turtles "stray" into Tam Giang lagoon
A sea turtle weighing 10 kg strayed into Tam Giang lagoon, got caught in fishing nets and was rescued by people.

In the afternoon of March 23, in Vinh Thanh commune, Phu Vang district, Thua Thien - Hue province, the local government, Phu Vang district Forest Ranger Department and people released a 10 kg sea turtle back into the sea.

Previously, in the evening of March 22, a resident of Phu Da town, Phu Vang district, while fishing on Tam Giang lagoon in Vien Trinh area, discovered this sea turtle when it was stuck in a trap - a fisherman net. This person reported to the local authorities for a solution.

According to experts and researchers in marine ecology, sea turtles (scientific name Eretmochelys imbricata), belonging to the turtle family, are one of the most observed and protected marine animals in recent times. Their return to the wild is a positive sign in protecting the marine environment and maintaining ocean biodiversity.

Rescue and protection of sea turtles is not only the task of local governments and authorities but also the responsibility of the entire society. Everyone needs to work together to protect and preserve the lives of these rare creatures, by minimizing human impact on their habitat.
