Open Vietnam-US Cancer Science Conference
In the morning of September 5, the first Vietnam-US Cancer Science Conference was opened in Hanoi with many reports from experts and cancer researchers from Vietnam and the United States.


Overview of the conference.

This is a conference focusing experts, doctors, prestigious scientists of MD Anderson Cancer Center, University of Southern California, K Hospital, 108 Central Military Hospital and many hospitals, medical centers of Vietnam and the United State. 

The conference is an opportunity for Vietnamese doctors and scientists to share their knowledge, exchange experiences and collaborate with international experts to improve the quality of treatment and prevention of cancer. More importantly, the conference will be the place to connect medical agencies, volunteer organizations, benefactors, businesses and the community to help cancer patients, helping to eliminate the dangerous disease. 

According to the Ministry of Health, Vietnam has more than 120,000 new cancers diagnosed each year and over 75,000 deaths. Therefore, cancer is a dangerous disease in Vietnam and around the world.

Although we have made much progress in cancer treatment, for many different reasons, the number of cancers in Vietnam and around the world is still increasing. This situation shows that the fight against cancer is still long and requires the contribution of the whole society.

Experts shared and presented to the Conference the latest advances in cancer treatment and research. In addition, the conference also opened up valuable opportunities for cancer specialists from Vietnam and the United States to collaborate on future research projects, human resource training and cancer treatment.

The reports at the Conference focused on the research results, updated knowledge and new technical applications of the sectors; Pathology and research in cancer, cancer diagnosis; Radiation therapy, chemotherapy, surgery for cancer, pain relief, alleviation; Nursing, rehabilitation, nutrition in cancer; Community support for cancer patients.

Vice Minister of Science and Technology Tran Quoc Khanh expressed his belief that with his experience, the Central Military Hospital 108 will continue to have many results of scientific research in the field of medicine in general as well as research on cancer research in particular, thereby contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for the protection and care of the health of the soldier and the people, especially for cancer patients – a high incident of disease and mortality.
