36,000 computers in Vietnam infected with malicious code of digging virtual money

According to Bkav, up to 10 am this morning, 2/1/2018, Bkav virus monitoring system recorded that 36,000 computers in Vietnam were infected with malicious code of digging virtual money. This malware is predicted to continue to explode in the future.

As reported from the morning of December 19, 2017, malicious code for digging virtual money spread through the Facebook Messenger has burst and made a "riot" Internet in Vietnam. Specifically, in the morning of December 19, many Facebook users in Vietnam received messages of friends containing zip files (named "video_" + 4 random numbers) sent through the Messenger application. When the user opens the zip file, they will see a fake video file inside and if the user opens the fake file, the computer will be infected with malicious code.
Bkav experts also said that if the victim computer uses Google Chrome browser, malicious code will install a extension (PV) to continue spreading the zip file via Facebook Messenger to friends list of victims. The purpose of this malicious distribution is to take control of the victim's computer, thereby taking advantage of victim's machine to dig virtual money, causing the computer to be slow and even impossible to use.
