Solar energy booms in the South: Double benefits
Installing solar energy systems helps investors reduce electricity costs and have more money by selling excess electricity on the grid. This is the driving force behind the strong development of solar power in the southern region in recent times.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ly - Deputy General Director of Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) - said that in May 2020, EVNSPC signed a two-way meter installation record with 1,736 customers, total capacity of solar panels installation was 41,629 kWp. Accumulated to the end of May, 2020, in 21 provinces and cities in the South, there were 4,495 customers installing rooftop solar power system, total installed panels capacity was 138,508 kWp, reaching 40% of the plan of the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) assigned 350 MWp.

EVNSPC's member power companies that exceed 45% of the plan assigned by the corporation are PC Binh Phuoc (115%), Binh Duong (66%), Long An (68%), An Giang (52%). Units with completion rates below 20% include Lam Dong (10%), Tien Giang (14%), Ben Tre (12%), Vinh Long (16%), Can Tho (9%), and Soc Trang ( 16%).

According to Mr. Ly, for investors, rooftop solar has brought about high economic efficiency, so more and more customers are interested in investing in new, increasing capacity for systems. The already installed EIA system.
