Ho Chi Minh City promoted the development of rooftop solar in industrial parks
Development program of rooftop solar power and renewable energy in export processing zones - industrial zones (EPZs - IPs) in Ho Chi Minh City for the period of 2020-2024 aims to develop 1,000 MWp of total capacity of rooftop solar power system with 1,000 enterprises in EPZs, IZs, high-tech zones (HTPs) in the Ho Chi Minh city response to participate.

To accomplish this goal, the Association of Enterprises of Industrial Zones of Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City Management Board of IZs and EPZs and Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVN HCMC) jointly launched the Program to develop rooftop solar power and renewable energy in EPZs and IPs for the period of 2020-2024 on June 19.

Mr. Nguyen Le Tan - Deputy Head of Energy Development Department of Industry and Trade Department of Ho Chi Minh City assesed: Ho Chi Minh City is one of the developed cities with a high population density and high economic growth rate, the demand for electricity of commercial, industrial and household groups is higher than that of the other cities. Especially, in the context of the power system is under increasing pressure to ensure the supply of electricity for consumption and production is increasing. While traditional sources of electricity generation, such as thermal power, gas, hydroelectricity, nuclear, etc., are risky and affect the environment. The development of renewable energy projects including rooftop solar is considered as one of the solutions to reduce pressure on the electricity industry today.

Mr. Nguyen Van Be, Chairman of HBA, said that the program of development of rooftop solar power and renewable energy at EPZs - IPs in Ho Chi Minh City for the period of 2020-2024 aims to develop 1,000 MWp of total capacity of rooftop solar power system with 1,000 enterprises in EPZs, IPs and HTPs responding and installing the system. Participating businesses will be supported with technical advice, connecting financial institutions, credit institutions, banks, at the same time improving brand influence, increasing competitiveness in the market and developing exports. As well as being supported and created favorable conditions for grid integration and solar power trading. If this goal is achieved, this activity will help reduce 10-15% of electricity consumption, contribute to reducing 23 million tons of CO2, save national natural resources, ensure urban energy security, reduce the pressure of environmental pollution.
