Until now, the province has completed the necessary procedures for the registration to send it to Department of Intellectual Property considering for recognition, brand protection of the specific products in the locality.

Besides, Ca Mau province also promoted and submitted Ministry of Science and Technology to build geographical indications "Ca Mau" for sugpo prawn’s products, and approved the list of projects on intellectual property development assistance program by the Ministry, to enhance the value of locally strategic goods.

Ca Mau Department of Science and Technology coordinated with departments, related branches, organizations to promote communication and popularization of knowledge about intellectual property; to be positive in counseling and guidance for the organizations, individuals to implement registration procedures of trademark protection. The department opened many workshops and training classes to help organizations and people in the province comprehended intellectual property rights.

In the recent years, Vietnam Department of Intellectual Property has recognized and protected three collective trade-marks of Ca Mau including U Minh honey, U Minh dried shrimp and Rach Goc dried Shrimp.

After the recognition of intellectual property rights for the mentioned products above, the management unit of collective trade-marks in Ca Mau boosted introduction to the product and brand protection, improved design, product’s quality, and expanded goods consumption market.
