Appraisal of funding for the science and technology project: "Research on the technological process of producing products from citrus sinensis"
In the morning of May 27, 2021, Can Tho City Department of Science and Technology held a Council to appraise the funding of the science and technology project "Research on the technological process of producing products from citrus oranges (Citrus sinensis). The study is carried out "by Dr. Huynh Xuan Phong – Can Tho University. Can Tho University is project implementing agency.

The study was carried out with the aim of building a technological process to produce a number of products from oranges including dried flexible oranges, concentrated orange juice, pure orange powder, and at the same time taking advantage of the by-products to develop some valuable products of essential oils from orange peels and microbial organic fertilizers.

Council members

The implementation content of the project includes: General research; analysis and evaluation of quality components of oranges (sensory and physicochemical) in the Mekong Delta; Research on the technological process of producing dried flexible oranges; Research on the technological process of concentrated orange juice production; Research the technological process of pure orange powder production; Research on technological process of extracting and recovering essential oil from orange peel by distillation method; Research on the technological process of microbial organic fertilizer production.

Research team

The research results of the project will be the basis for the development of a number of specialties in food microbiology, food processing technology, food chemistry, processing and post-harvest preservation of tropical fruits to production of value-added products, contributing to adding value to the orange tree, minimizing the risk of environmental pollution.

Create products from local materials, help increase income for people and businesses. Contributing to the development orientation of the Can Tho city's strong raw materials in particular and the Mekong Delta in general. The product makes use of most of the ingredients from orange, which helps to avoid wasting resources. Moreover, the production process does not use additives or harmful chemicals that pollute the environment.
