The workshop aims to promote cooperation in development and application of biotechnology for socio-economic development following the green growth trend.

Bui Dinh Thach, representative of the Institute of Tropical Biology - VAST, said that biotechnology is a high-tech field based on life science, combined with technical processes and equipment to create new exploiting and biological products with high quality, production technologies for serving socio-economic development and environmental protection. This is a key task and a development opportunity for the biopharmaceutical technology industry to make important breakthroughs in its research strategy to create quality products and develop human resources.

Currently, biotechnology applications in the medical field include: Biopharmaceutical development, pharmaco-genomic, gene therapy and etc.

Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Le Quoc Cuong, Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Hi-Tech Park Management Board, said that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park Management Board the task of building and implementing the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Expansion Project with the goal of 2030 will become a world-class high-tech park, operating according to the model of a science-technology park. In which, prioritizing investment in developing high technologies in the field of biotechnology is also one of the very important tasks.
