Experts say Vietnam's medical technology sector has received strong attention in recent years with the expectation that AI can promote the development of precision medicine.

Mrs. Le Hoang Uyen Vy, co-founder and general partner of venture capital fund Do Ventures, said: “Vietnam has many promising companies in this field, the market is still in the early stages.”

Among Vietnam's precision medicine startups attracting venture capital is Gene Solutions in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2021, Mekong Capital invested $15 million in Gene Solutions. Last year, the startup raised $21 million in its second round of funding. According to a report by Data Vantage, with the support of Mekong Capital, this transaction is the seventh largest medical technology deal in Southeast Asia in 2023. In September 2023, Gene Solutions started the third round of capital raising with goal of raising $50 million.

Founded in 2017, Gene Solutions specializes in detecting the occurrence of certain diseases based on DNA analysis. The startup has helped many parents detect chromosomal disorders during pregnancy, prevent genetic problems and help conceive through in vitro fertilization. Gene Solutions aims to make its services affordable and accessible.

Over the past five years, Gene Solutions has performed more than 350,000 genetic tests.
