The workshop was organized with the purpose of sharing information, contributing ideas to finalizing the Decree on Organic agriculture production in Vietnam, facilitating the development of organic agriculture, contributing to the positioning and raising the trademark of Vietnam agricultural products on the map of the world agriculture.

Dr Pham Dong Quang, an expert on agricultural production, said that Vietnam does not have a clear legal corridor and has no policy to support to develop organic agriculture.

In some places, small agricultural production land, lack of organic fertilizer, pests and diseases in agricultural production is increasing.

The cost of organic products is not high compared to conventional products while the cost of production is high.

Consumption and export markets are also one of the major challenges for the development of organic agriculture in Vietnam.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh, chairman of the Vietnam Cashew Association, said that if we do not soon implement organic agriculture, we will lose at home in the future.

Consumers now like the imported organic agricultural products, especially clean agriculture products from Japan.

Therefore, now it is too late to start organic agriculture, it is early to have regulations and policies to encourage and support organic agricultural enterprises, first of all, domestic consumption and competition with organic products imported from foreign countries, then promote exports to the international market.
