Applying high technology to help Pangasius farming to overcome difficulties
Mr. Tran Anh Thu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang Province, said that in order to restore the Pangasius industry in difficult conditions, the province has recently stepped up the implementation of a chain of links to produce 3-level pangasius breeding.


Specifically, level 1: the Research Institute for Aquaculture 2, so far has provided 12,320 parents of Pangasius to replace about 30% of the total population of Pangasius parents in the province.

Level 2, with the core of An Giang Aquatic Breeding Center and a number of associated production facilities, the total number of 26,300  pangasius parents (accounting for 64% of the total number of pangasius parents in the province), supply capacity 6.8 billion powders / year. These units have been granted certificates of eligibility for hatchery production under the Government's Decree No. 26/2019 / ND-CP.

Level 3 includes the Pangasius parents with a total of 54 members, the total surface area of the nursery is 251 ha (accounting for more than 43% of the current nursery area of the province), the seed production capacity is 700 - 800 million / year. Coordinate with the Provincial Fisheries Association to guide members in the implementation of conditions for nursery of aquatic breeds, registration for testing and certification of eligible establishments. As a result, 9/11 registered facilities are certified with an area of about 34 hectares.

Regarding the implementation progress of concentrated Pangasius hatchery areas, 4 enterprises have been invited to invest in concentrated high-tech farming areas to participate in the 3-level Pangasius project, such as Vietnam Australia Group (104 ha), Nam Viet Company Limited (600 ha, with 150 ha of nursery in Chau Phu district), Vinh Hoan Joint Stock Company (48.3 ha), Loc Kim Chi Development Limited Company (350 ha). These projects are being implemented and have a production plan in 2020, thereby contributing to improving the quality of Pangasius seed in the coming time.

Mr. Le Doan Toi, General Director of Nam Viet Group (An Giang) shared: The project of raising Pangasius with a scale of 600 hectares with a total investment of 4,000 billion VND was implemented in 3 hamlets of Binh Duc, Binh Quoi and Binh Thoi belongs to Binh Phu commune, Chau Phu district (An Giang). Overall the project is divided into 2 zones. In which, the production area of high quality Pangasius 3-level has an area of 150 hectares with an investment of 1,000 billion VND. The agricultural area with high technology application for aquaculture, commercial pangasius farming has an area of 450 hectares with an investment of 3,000 billion VND.
