4 main standards of VietGAP
VietGAP is a standard of good agricultural practice in Vietnam, issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for each product, aquatic product group, cultivation and husbandry. VietGAP standard was born on January 28, 2008, inheriting GAP production models in countries around the world.
Organizations and businesses wish to achieve VietGAP certification should fully meet the following 4 criteria: firstly on production techniques; second is the food safety standards, including measures to ensure no chemical contamination or physical contamination at harvest; The third is the standard of working environment, aiming to prevent the abuse of labor by farmers; The fourth is product traceability.
This standard allows identifying problems from production to product consumption. Specifically, clearly defining the main factors in agricultural production, such as assessing and selecting production areas; seed and rootstock; land and management of fertilizers and additives; irrigation water; chemicals (including plant protection drugs); harvesting and post-harvest handling; waste management and treatment; labor safety; record, tracebility and recall products; internal check; complaint and complaint settlement.
The application of VietGAP standards is the evidence that confirms the names of Vietnam's fishery, cultivation and livestock products, increases exports by overcoming technical barriers, and does not violate regulations and requirements of importing countries.
In addition, producers must document the entire production process, starting from seeding to harvest and storage to prevent incidents, such as food poisoning or excess chemical residues threshold is allowed and can be traceable.
GlobalGAP-certified products will be identified through a global geographic coordinate system, participating in a global data system, ensuring traceability so they can become objects of e-commerce. |
