Investigate the influence of culture substrates and growing methods on the growth of Thai Duong fungus
Currently, many medicinal mushroom species have been studied with many published reports showing that they have immune-boosting and anti-cancer effects, such as Cordyceps sinensis, Agaricus blazei, Grifola frondosa, Ganoderma lucidum, Trametes versolor. In which, Agaricus subrufescens is a species of mushroom that is both delicious and has high medicinal value. Many countries around the world have paid attention to the development of this fungus.

Vietnam has the advantage of being an agricultural country, with a diverse and abundant source of by-products, which have potential in mushroom cultivation, such as sawdust, bagasse, rice straw, cotton seed husks, etc. in mushroom farming today is sawdust. However, sawdust is mainly concentrated in the Southeast and Central Highlands regions, so the procurement of sawdust in the Mekong Delta provinces as well as Ho Chi Minh City faces difficulties and high costs due to transportation costs. Meanwhile, mushroom farming on rice straw and bagasse has been applied in some places.

The above study was carried out to evaluate the possibility of replacing sawdust materials of rice straw and bagasse; determine the appropriate growing method for Thai Duong mushroom to improve the productivity. The research team conducted two contents, including experimenting on cultivating Thai Duong mushrooms on several types of substrates and experimenting on cultivating Thai Duong mushrooms with a number of growing methods.
