Bac Lieu has a great advantage in developing renewable energy
Bac Lieu Province has a coastline of 56 km in length, a large alluvial area, and a strong coastal wind area, which is relatively stable at an average of 7 m / s. Sunlight appears almost year round, with an average number of sunny hours reaches over 2,900 hours per year. Good climate conditions, flat terrain, little impacted by typhoons, floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, etc. These are advantages for Bac Lieu province to develop renewable energy.

Bac Lieu Department of Industry and Trade said that from above advantages, Bac Lieu province comes up with the target of economic restructuring in the direction of green and sustainable growth, and choosing renewable energy is one of development priority areas of Bac Lieu. Specifically, for wind power, Bac Lieu province has been planning the development of wind power in the period up to 2020, vision to 2030 and approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Accordingly, by 2020, in Bac Lieu province, six wind power projects with the installed capacity of 401.2 MW will be developed, the corresponding wind power output will be about 882 million kWh and by 2030 the total capacity will be about 2,507 MW.

For solar power, Bac Lieu province has attracted a lot of investors. Specifically, 6 investors come for research, survey and investment.

At the same time, Cong Ly Company is preparing to invest phase III, with a capacity of 142MW.
The wind power plant of Cong Ly Company is completed and put into use, initially achieving basic economic and technical efficiency and stability. This is a demonstration of the feasibility of the development of renewable energy projects in Bac Lieu province.
