In the morning of August 24, in Ha Noi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade collaborated with the German Embassy and Siemens Company to organize a workshop of "Sustainable Energy - target a low eeission Economy". Attending the workshop, there were Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Hoang Quoc Vuong and Mr. Wolfgang Manig, the temporary representative of the German Embassy in Vietnam.

Deputy Ministry of Industry and Trade Hoang Quoc Vuong delivered the opening workshop.

The report at the workshop showed that Vietnam's economy is growing rapidly with the increase in energy demand. This trend poses four major challenges: reliable energy supply, economic efficiency, environmental protection and efficient use of resources. In this context, in addition to the strong efforts to separate economic growth from energy consumption, Viet Nam is constantly promoting international cooperation in the field of energy to improve the business environment and improve the policy mechanics, contributing to capacity building, efficiency, sustainability and adaptation to the national energy sector as well as securing the implementation of international commitments towards sustainable development goals.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Minister Hoang Quoc Vuong stressed that the energy sector is the infrastructure sector, plays a crucial role in the process of industrialization and economic development of Vietnam. The government has shown determination and prioritized efforts to ensure national energy security; to provide sufficient energy for socio-economic development while ensuring sustainable development, reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

In the past 15 years, Vietnam's energy consumption need increased and will continue to increase in the next 15 years. Meanwhile, Vietnam is facing many big challenges so it needs to find solutions to solve this problem.

The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the cooperation and support of international governments and organizations, including the German Government in the past time, and hoped to continue receiving support in the coming time, especially the technical issues, experiences of developing clean energy, renewable energy.
