In this study, scientists from the University of Natural Resources and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City applied the SWAT model (Soils and Assessment tools) to simulate the sediment distribution in the Dong Nai river basin for the periods I (1980 - 2000), II (2046 - 2064), and III (2080 - 2100 ) with the first period I is the base period to consider the impact of climate change in the future.
Research results show that: under the impact of climate change for the second period, the total average amount of sediment over the years in the whole basin is about 56,406,106 m3, an insignificant increase compared to the first period; In the third period, the total annual sediment quantity in the whole basin is about 79,673,106 m3, increasing more than 25% compared to the first period, in which the flood season increases than the dry season. |
