Butterfly is a new inspiration for solar battery
Scientists have used an electron microscope to study the structure of two species of black wings butterfly chosen because they can absorb sunlight at the maximum.

They found that the wing of this kind of butterflies, including many long rectangular scales arranged like overlapping roof shape. Each class has the ripple slope scales with some small holes in both sides and leads to the second layer.

This feature will bring light to the 2nd class and help the butterfly can collect more energy.
Tongxiang Fan, materials scientists at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China) and his team are conducting a product developed commercial solar battery inspired by butterfly wings. According to him, this is a very effective way to gain energy. But he said "This is just the first step."
Mr Fan said: "The ability to collect and use the light is very important for the operation of solar equipment."
