Hundreds of ancient trees in Tra Vinh are at the risk of death
Through surveys and the conclusions of the experts of the Australian Institute of Greenery, Ho Chi Minh University of Agriculture - Forestry and Vietnam's specialized Institute, now Tra Vinh city (Tra Vinh) has about 420 ancient trees (star, oil, tamarind tree) have tended to die off.

Hundreds of ancient trees in Tra Vinh are at the risk of death.

The reason is due to the construction of concrete pavement streets, improper and inconsistent treatments with the age of the tree, which limit photosynthesis, absorb water and lead plants with poor vitality.

According to Mr. Diep Van Thanh, Chairman of Tra Vinh People’s Committee, to protect ancient trees, preserve green beautiful landscapes, Tra Vinh city proposed Provincial People's Committee a project for maintenance of ancient trees so far to 2020 with a cost of about 20 billion VND. At the same time, Urban People's Committee proposed Provincial People’s Committee to direct concerned departments, branches to be gradually underground electrical systems, cables on the route from the city center to ensure the development of the plant and urban beauty.

Tra Vinh city is considered the greenest city in Mekong River delta region. Over 59 inner routes  in the city have more than 13,690 green trees to create shade and flowers; of which, around 800 ancient trees, such as stars, oil and tamarind trees are more than 100 years old.
