An Giang province has successfully researched and tested the study "production of artificial marine tilapia breeds" in order to create artificial fish breeds for developing and conservation of native freshwater fish breeds that are becoming increasingly being exhausted.

The study built a complete breeding process, artificial spawning stimulation and nursery of marine tilapia breeds, studied the biological characteristics of fish,  marine tilapia spawning breeding techniques in pond breeding period, artificial spawning stimulation and nursery of  fingerlings to breed fishes.

The research results offered artificial reproductive processes of marine tilapia in conditions of An Giang, achieved the specification of maturation rate of parental fishes is more 50%; ovulation rate of 60-80%; fertilization rate of 50-60%; hatchability rate of 60-80%; survival rate of  fingerlings to breed fishes is 20-30%; size of breed fishes is between 3-5cm.

The study transferred technical process of artificial marine tilapia breed production, over 20,000 artificial tilapia breeds, 50kg of parental fishes for An Giang Aquaculture Breeding Center to continue to produce and supply fish breeds for farmers.
