At the meeting, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said, in recent years, the relationship between the two countries has had many positive changes. The two sides have actively cooperated in the fields of rice, silk and fisheries. Every year, Vietnam sends experts to Uzbekistan to survey, advise on breeding and develop agricultural models. Vietnam Academy of Agriculture and Fisheries Research Institute 1 signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with a number of schools, agencies and organizations in Uzbekistan. In general, bilateral turnover between Vietnam and Uzbekistan has recently changed positively but is still modest and not commensurate with the potential of the two countries.

Mr. Kasimov Elzat emphasized, Uzbekistan wishes to further develop cooperation with Vietnam in the field of agriculture. Agriculture is one of Uzbekistan's priorities because agriculture plays an important role in Uzbekistan's economy, accounting for 30% of the country's GDP. Uzbekistan hopes to receive Vietnam's sharing of experiences in developing the agricultural sector.

Mr. Kasimov Elzat proposed that the two sides establish working groups on agriculture and working groups on developing the silk industry to further strengthen cooperation.

Noting Uzbekistan's opinions, Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien proposed that the two sides research, negotiate and proceed to sign cooperation in the field of agriculture/rice and other agreements to create favorable conditions for the trade exchange and agricultural cooperation between the two countries and etc.
