This program will focus on productivity, edaphic conditions for these rice varieties in the region.

Brunei Minister of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR) said, this is apart of A memorandum of cooperation between the two countries.

According to Brunei Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, 10 rice varieties are planting trials in two acres, the research will focus on these selected rice varieties which are consistent with edaphic conditions in Brunei.

According to announcement of Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food under MIPR, based on the research, selected rice varieties will be grown in large scales, at 4 districts of Wasan in order to assess its appropriate level in rainy areas.

Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food hopes that this research will take part in boosting rice production in order to achieve self-sufficiency of rice, ensuring food security for the country.
