Protection of three cities responds to climate Change
Institute for South Fishery Resources Planning launched three irrigation works in three heavy flooding cities of Mekong Delta due to climate change, such as Can Tho, Vinh Long and Ca Mau.

Accordingly, so far until 2016, a capital invested by the central government, the system of irrigation works against flooding for Can Tho city center will be built with many important items, including 24 culverts, 2 docks at Tra Noc, Binh Thuy, dredging 109km of level 1 canals, upgrading 133,5km of levees level 1, building 6 new pumping stations with 15 machine groups (type 10.800m3 / hour), upgrading canals and level 2 levee system, the interior canals.

In the Vinh Long city (Vinh Long province), so far until 2020 local authority will build 19 irrigation drains and levee against flood combined urban gentrification; upgrading and expansion of drainage canals for irrigation; upgrading and building additional 73,6km of levees combined traffic; building 8 pumping stations with capacity 226.800m3 / hour.

In Ca Mau city (Ca Mau province), so far until 2020 local authority will upgrade and build 19,7km of levee against flood along Ca Mau river, Ca Mau canal - Bac Lieu, Quan Lo canal - Phung Hiep, river of Ganh Hao, Song Doc, Rach Rap, Luong The Tran canal, belt street No. 3; upgrading and construction of new stormwater drainage system meet the drainage requirements for the whole Ca Mau city.
