Forum "Intellectual Property Rights with Small and Medium Enterprises" in Ho Chi Minh City
On April 17, 2021, in response to World Intellectual Property Day, the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam cooperated with Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City to organize the Forum "Intellectual Property with small and medium Enterprises" and" Intellectual Property Products "exhibition in Ho Chi Minh City.

Speaking at the opening of the Forum, Dr. Phan Hong Hai, Rector of Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City shared the message of World Intellectual Property Day 2021 "Intellectual Property for Small and Medium Enterprises: Bring your ideas to market", to honor and encourage small and medium enterprises to use intellectual property tools to bring ideas to market, to develop business in enterprises. He affirmed, "businesses can use intellectual property rights to build stronger, more competitive and sustainable development."

In his opening remarks, on the side of the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam, Deputy Director Tran Le Hong highly appreciated the cooperation between the Department and the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City in the coordination of organizing the Forum and its activities. The side exhibition is a vivid demonstration of the effective cooperation between the two sides. This is an activity of great significance in organizing the celebration of World Intellectual Property Day April 26 in Vietnam. With further emphasis on exploiting intellectual property tools, the Deputy Director said that each small and medium-sized enterprise can use intellectual property rights as a powerful economic tool if they are aware of and know how to exploit it. In contrast, intellectual property rights can significantly affect business operations, and even cause business failures. Intellectual property rights are the legal foundation for an enterprise's intellectual property; Intellectual property-based monopoly generates revenue, profits and increases the competitiveness of the business, fosters strategic cooperation with potential partners and many other advantages, so it goes hand in hand daily business, success and failure. The Deputy Director thanked the cooperation and important contributions of the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City and Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology in coordinating to organize this meaningful Forum.

At the Forum, speakers from the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam, the Copyright Office, the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City and Graphenel Joint Stock Company shared about different aspects of exploitation SME intellectual property rights, the relationship between business and partners such as universities and research institutes in this exploitation. Representative of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Representative Office in Singapore, Mr. Peter Willimott, presented online at the Forum on Intellectual Property Activities of Small and Medium Enterprises on the basis of operating practices of Vietnamese businesses and there are recommendations with high reference value. Speakers and delegates attending the Forum exchanged and discussed actively about intellectual property issues of small and medium-sized enterprises, especially solutions for improving the efficiency of exploitation of intellectual property rights, such as promoting the training of human resources to manage intellectual property; ensure effective coordination among entrepreneurs, scientists and managers; promote the initiative and capacity of business; etc.
