Exploiting intellectual property rights associated with OCOP products
On April 24, 2021, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Ministry of Science and Technology presides over and coordinates with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the Ministries of Information and Communication, Culture, Sports and Tourism (Culture & Tourism), Agriculture and Rural Development (Agriculture and Rural Development) organized the Workshop: "Promoting digital transformation and exploiting intellectual property rights in tourism development associated with OCOP products."


The workshop was organized to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day (April 26), Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18) and the Liberation of the South and reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2021). It used SmartROOM technology platform, organized 5 online bridge points in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Giang, Quang Ninh and Vinh Phuc.

OCOP product development associates with the role of intellectual property

The workshop is a forum for union members and young people to access and exploit intellectual property rights (IP) in production, business and the implementation of Decision No. 490 / QD-TTg dated May 7, 2018 of The Prime Minister approves the One Product per Commune Program (OCOP) for the period of 2018 - 2020 and Decision No. 1068 / QD-TTg dated August 22, 2019 of the Prime Minister approving the Intellectual Property Strategy by 2030.

Workshop to gather, connect, promote the role of youth union members and youth to implement the national digital transformation program to 2025, with a vision to 2030 according to Decision No. 749 / QD-TTg dated 03 / 6/2020 of the Prime Minister in the fields of S&T, information and communication, Culture, Sports and Tourism, Agriculture and Rural Development as well as some localities.

The Workshop program focused on sharing and discussing 5 main groups of contents: Developing OCOP products associated with the role of IP and promoting digital transformation; Reality of digital transformation in tourism; IPR - A tool to combine OCOP and tourism products; Digital Transforming of commune level with the goal of narrowing the digital gap between urban and rural areas; Business-specific digital transformation stories.

Presenting at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien - Director, Chief of Central New Rural Coordination Office, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that OCOP program develops rural economy in the direction of promoting internal strength associated with the village unit and communes to focus on developing specialty products, advantageous rural trades and services; associated with the culture and traditions in each locality according to the value chain. Subjects participating in the Program are all economic sectors, especially cooperatives, small and medium enterprises in rural areas.

After 3 years of implementation, the OCOP Program has spread strongly and been deployed synchronously and widely. 60/63 provinces and cities have organized OCOP products, 4,733 products were recognized as 3 stars or more, of which 62.16% of the products achieved 3 stars, 36.1% of the products achieved 4-star products and 1.74% of 5-star potential products. More than 2,596 subjects have OCOP-recognized products, of which 37.8% are cooperatives, 27.7% are enterprises, 31.7% are manufacturers, the rest are cooperative groups.
