The only Gold medal of the Vietnamese delegation belonged to Pham Cong Minh, grade 12, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University.
Six students won Silver Medals including: Pham Ngoc Trung - grade 12, Nguyen Tuan Linh - grade 12, Tran Gia Huy - grade 12, Hoang Xuan Bach - grade 11, and Nguyen Huu Tuan - grade 10 of Science High School for Gifted Students Nature, University of Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University; and Nguyen Tung Lam - grade 12, Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, Hai Phong.
The 18th APIO will be held from May 18 to May 19, 2024 with the participation of 35 delegations, with 286 candidates proposed for consideration.
The Center for Communications and Events (Ministry of Education and Training) said that this year's exam questions are updated according to the trend of the International Olympics with new types of tests, such as interaction and communication. For each exam, the Vietnamese Student Union had candidates who achieved maximum scores.
The Vietnamese national team consists of 15 contestants, taking the exam online at the University of Technology, Hanoi National University and seven contestants with the highest scores were selected to participate in the award consideration.
Overall results of the entire team, the Vietnam Informatics Olympic Team ranked sixth, behind countries/territories: China, Russia, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong (China), and leading the countries in Southeast Asia region.
Based on the APIO exam results, the Ministry of Education and Training will select four candidates for the National Team to compete in the IOI 2024 International Informatics Olympiad in Egypt from September 1 to September 8, 2024.
In 2023, Vietnam won four Silver Medals and three Bronze Medals. Therefore, this year's results are higher than last year's. |
