Researchers from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (USA) developed a new battery with anode polar "hybridity" that was made of graphite (graphite) and lithium, enabled to increase life-span of battery up to 4 times.

Currently, technical barriers of the most common battery are low capacity, short expectation of life. In studies the scientists found, with a negative solution, batteries can still work. Therefore, the research team added a shield to protect the positive anode.
New shield was made of graphite, with a thin matrix structure of carbon molecules used in lithium-ion battery anodes.
The effect of this graphite shield moves side effects from sulfur to get of the lithium anode surface, and prevent electrical attenuation. Combining graphite from lithium-ion battery with conventional lithium - sulfur, called the anode "hybridity".
With a common anode, the battery will stop working after 100 charged time / discharged time, but the "hybrid" battery with life-span is much higher than normal battery. It allows the use of 400 charge cycles / discharge cycles.
Expectation is to put into commercial production, a new battery will improve capacity long -distance running, endurance of power source for automobiles, as well as the equipment used large capacity battery. |
