Promoting startup, innovation with artificial intelligence technology
The innovative challenge program with artificial intelligence technology 2021 (AAC 2021) sponsored by the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, under the auspices of the Ministry of Science and Technology, has officially opened a registration.


The AAC 2021 program with the topic "Artificial Intelligence in response to the Covid-19 epidemic" is organized with the aim of detecting, incubating, promoting and developing the potential of applications of artificial intelligence in the fields of sectors: Finance, commerce, electronics, telecommunications, manufacturing, agriculture, health, education, transportation, smart cities.

According to the organization Board, the program's desire not only to encourage the development of artificial intelligence but also create AI startups with the potential to grow rapidly.

Joining the program, the startup will receive cash rewards and other benefits, such as (consultant, legal advisory service, connection and fundraising from domestic and foreign angel investors, investment funds leading ventures in advertising and media).

Requests for teams' ideas and products must not be established more than 5 years from 1/1/2021. At least one team member must be a Vietnamese citizen and able to communicate clearly in English.

In order to receive the sponsorship when they reach the interview round, the winner must register as a legal entity in Vietnam. The organization Board also noted that each team can only participate in one project. An individual cannot be a member of more than one group.

In the program, 5 best teams will receive prizes including support service package worth 500 million VND, consulting course for business development company worth 200 million VND and maximum 200 million VND for original investment. The program will take place from February to August 2021.

Regarding the impact of AI on the world economy, recently, auditing firm Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) predicted that by 2030, AI will help the world economy grow 14% - equivalent to about 15.7 thousand billion USD.

In Vietnam, AI is included in the list of high technology prioritized for investment and development in Decision No. 66/2014 / QD-TTg dated November 25, 2014 of the Prime Minister. Next, Directive No.16 / CT-TTg dated May 4, 2017 of the Prime Minister on strengthening the capacity to access the 4th Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) identified AI technology as one of breakthrough technologies, the spearhead of the Industry 4.0, need to organize and deploy research but do not have specific content to promote development. The resolution of the Government meeting in March 2018 set out the task of researching, assessing the impact and building a National Strategy on Industry 4.0.

In October 2018, the Ministry of Science and Technology issued a plan to deploy "Research and development of artificial intelligence until 2025" to link parties in the development, research, implementation and application of AI technology and promote technology development in strong and key areas.
